Lenny Petersen
Crystal Lake Central, sr.
The area’s only returning state champion. Petersen went 41-4 last season with FVC, regional and sectional titles before capping his junior year with the Class 2A state title at 138 pounds. He recently signed to wrestle for Air Force.
Gavin Sutton
Richmond-Burton, sr.
Sutton was spectacular as a junior but had the misfortune of running into Petersen over and over in the postseason. He went 41-4 on the year and reached the Class 2A state finals at 138, losing to Petersen. Still, a returning state runner up, he has been a state qualifier all three of his high school seasons.
Josh Stenger
Huntley, sr.
Stenger went 45-6 last season en route to a fourth-place finish at 120 pounds in Class 3A, the best state finish in Huntley wrestling history. He also won conference, regional and sectional titles as a junior.
Josh Fiegel
Harvard, sr.
Fiegel is a two-time state qualifier who placed fifth in Class 1A as a sophomore but lost his first-round match and didn’t medal last year. Still, he won a regional championship, took third at his sectional and won 37 matches.
Anthony Randazzo
Marian Central, jr.
Randazzo has made it to state in both of his high school seasons. Last year, he won a regional title and was a sectional runner up before going 2-2 at state, finishing the season with a record of 29-5.
