FIRST TEAM

Jake King

McHenry, sr., GK

King again was the area's best shot stopper, filling up the goal with his 6-foot-3 frame. King missed some time early with an injury but returned to allow fewer than a goal a game, giving up 17 in 20 matches. King kept 11 shutouts, at one point keeping 10 in a row.

Alex Lee

McHenry, sr., D

Lee was the vocal leader in the center of McHenry's defense. A senior captain, he was the field general directing the county's best defense, helping the Warriors keep 12 shutouts (10 in a row at one point), allow 17 goals in 24 games while going 16-6-2 overall and winning a regional.

Andrew Meyer

Huntley, sr., D

Meyer helped captain a Huntley defense that allowed 24 goals in 22 games. The Red Raiders won the PepsiCo Showdown, went 6-2 in the FVC and 15-6-1 after losing in a regional final for the second consecutive year.

Joel Juarez

Harvard, sr., D

Juarez was the captain in the center of defense for Harvard, playing as a center back or sweeper. The senior captain helped Harvard to the first Kishwaukee River Conference title, as the defense allowed a little over a goal a game, giving up 24 in 21 matches, and the Hornets went 17-4 overall, 11-1 in the KRC.

Alfredo Pichardo

Harvard, sr., M

Pichardo was the Hornets' driving force in the midfield, creating most of the chances for the KRC champions. He assisted on 16 goals and scored 13 for the Hornets, who went 17-4-0 and were undefeated in the first 13 games of the season.

Colin Walsh

Jacobs, jr., M

Walsh was the creative force in central midfield for the Golden Eagles, able to play out of tight spaces and set up those around him. Walsh dished out a team-high 18 assists and scored five goals for a Jacobs team that won FVC, regional and sectional titles.

Julian Ajroja

Dundee-Crown, jr., M/F

Whether playing as a winger or as a striker, Ajroja was a handful for defenses with his pace, skill and growing frame. His 19 goals and 10 assists helped the Chargers finish 6-2 in the FVC and win their first regional title, finishing 13-9-1 overall.

Will Maidment

Woodstock, sr., F

Maidment led a historic Blue Streaks offense that set program records with 103 goals scored and 17 wins. The senior captain contributed 24 of those goals and 10 assists. Seven of his goals were game winners.

Andrew Grabowski

Crystal Lake South, sr., F

The Gators' target man came into his own as a well-rounded forward during his senior season and took on more of a leadership role, as well. Bouncing back from an injury-hampered 2015 season, Grabowski led the team in goals and assists, scoring 19 and assisting on 14 more for South, bringing his career totals to 47 goals and 32 assists. His 126 career points put him fourth all time at South.

Alonzo Carrillo

Harvard, sr., F

Carrillo was the leading goal scorer for the KRC-champion Hornets. The senior captain bagged 26 goals and added 10 assists for a Harvard team that went 17-4-0.

Noah Melick

Jacobs, jr., F

Melick, the Northwest Herald Player of the Year, scored 33 goals and added eight assists for a Jacobs team that won the FVC title outright. He scored nine of his goals in the postseason, and Jacobs won its second consecutive regional and its first sectional title since 2000.
