Downers Grove North inducts 2 alumni into Athletic Hall of Fame

DOWNERS GROVE – Two former standout Downers Grove North High School athletes were honored for their accomplishments in high school, being inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame on Dec. 17.

Chad Isaacson, class of 1992, and Doug Rybar, class of 2009, were both inducted in a special celebration at the high school's gym.

Isaacson was a standout in both baseball and football, ranked as one of the top 50 players in the state in both sports his senior year. He was a member of North's regional championship-winning baseball team in 1991.

He also was a four-year letter winner at Southern Illinois University in baseball before coming to North as a baseball coach, winning regional championships in 2000, 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2015 and being named the DuPage Area Baseball Coach of the year in his first championship season.

Rybar was the Illinois Senior Gymnast of the Year in 2009, becoming the IHSA all-around champion and ring champion and coming in second in the horizontal bars and pommel horse competition. During his career, he received 16 IHSA medals at state meets between 2006 and 2009.
