Jan A. Weinrich

TAMPICO – Jan A. Weinrich, 73, of Sterling, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at home.

Jan was born July 28, 1942 in Urbana, the son of Jack and Kathryn (Prentiss) Weinrich. He married Kathleen A. McNinch on Dec. 20, 1968, in Tampico. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2004.

He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 35 years, retiring in 2001, and was a member of the steel workers union. He attended Cross Trail Church of Rock Falls.

He enjoyed bowling, had an appreciation of firearms and enjoyed target practice. He also enjoyed his morning coffee at the Sterling McDonald’s.

Survivors include his daughter, Jessica A. McLean of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin; his son, Jason A. Weinrich of Rock Falls; three grandchildren, Jerika A. McLean, and Karmen and Kegan Weinrich; his mother, Kathryn Weinrich of Sterling; and three brothers, S. Craig Weinrich of Jacksonville, Florida, Todd Weinrich of Sterling, and Kevin Weinrich of Rockford.

He also was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of friends and family begins at 3 and a memorial service at 5 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The Rev. Jeff Coester Sr., pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
