ROCK FALLS – Jerry L. Conley, 68, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1948, in Sterling, the son of Harold and Rita (Jackley) Conley, and was a 1967 graduate of Rock Falls High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Army from 1968 to 1970 in Germany and Vietnam. He married Julie Pierson on April 20, 1974, in Rock Falls. He had worked at the former R. B. & W. (Reliant Fastner) in Rock Falls for more than 28 years. Jerry enjoyed trips to Wisconsin with family, fishing, cooking on the grill, playing cards, and watching the “wild kingdom” from the comfort of his home and backyard. He rooted for all Illinois sports teams.
Survivors include his wife, Julie; his son, Jason Conley of Chicago; his daughter, Johnna (Raymond) Soler of Chicago; his mother, Rita Conley of Rock Falls; his sister, Kathy (Walter) Griswold of Springfield; his brother, David Conley of Rock Falls; his nephews, Jeffrey and Andrew; and his great-nephew, Gavin.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
