Judith L. ‘Judy’ Nehrkorn

ROCK FALLS – Judith L. “Judy” Nehrkorn, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Sauk Valley Senior Living in Rock Falls.

Judy was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Sterling, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Merlak) Werland. She married Donald “Don” L. Nehrkorn on July 14, 1957, in Sterling. He died on July 25, 2016. Judy was employed as an administrative secretary with Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Rock Falls for 20 years. She was a member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, Rock Falls High School Band, and Athletic Booster clubs. Judy enjoyed cleaning, liked her winters in Florida, and loved attending her kids’ and grandkids’ band and sporting events. She loved to take walks with her friends and go out for dinner with friends on Thursday nights.

Survivors include one daughter, Lori (Tom) Johnson of Clinton, Iowa; three sons, Ted (Regina) Nehrkorn of Peoria, and Tim (Anne) Nehrkorn and Tom (Liz) Nehrkorn, both of Rock Falls; two brothers-in-law, Fred Nehrkorn of Rock Falls and Tom Regalado of Sterling; one aunt, Doris Merlak-McCleary of Gibson City; nine grandchildren, Amanda (Wade) Morrow, Jacob (Chelsea) Spooner, Bryan Nehrkorn, Karina Nehrkorn, Emily Nehrkorn, Kara Nehrkorn, John Nehrkorn, Angela Nehrkorn, and Austen Johnson; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Megan Spooner.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 28, and the funeral at noon Jan. 28 at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Scott Porter officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

A memorial has been established to Coloma Township Park District.
