West Carroll students fight drug myths

MOUNT CARROLL – West Carroll Middle School’s Students Against Destructive Decisions group took part from Jan. 23 through 29 in National Drug Facts Week.

This year’s theme was “Shatter the Myths,” with students taking a short drug facts quiz. They also signed brick-looking pledges that read, “What I Will Look Like to a Friend Who Might Try to Drink (alcohol). I’m the Wall Between My Friends and Alcohol.”

Aubrey Winslow, middle school SADD sponsor, said, “This week is all about getting the real facts to our students. We are here to help students learn the real facts about drug and alcohol usage so they will be better prepared to resist peer pressure and be successful in school.”

A total of 164 students participated in activities.
