Pleasantdale District 107 board approves superintendent contract

The Pleasantdale School District 107 Board of Education approved a new five-year contract for Superintendent Dave Palzet at its Jan. 18 meeting, according to a district news release.

Palzet, who has been with the district since the 2015-16 school year and whose current contract was set to expire June 30, 2018, has met all of the performance goals included in his latest 2015-18 employment contract, the release stated. The new contract that was approved by the board will run from the 2017-18 school year through the 2021-22 school year.

The new contract will tie Palzet’s annual salary increases to the consumer price index with a floor of no less than 2 percent and a ceiling of no more than 4 percent, according to the release. In addition, during each contract year, Palzet will have the ability to obtain a performance-based monetary bonus no later than the August board meeting of each contract year.

“We are very happy with him,” board President Mark Mirabile said in the release. “When you’re happy with what someone is doing for you, you want to see that continue. Pleasantdale School District is a better place because of Dave Palzet.”

Palzet said in the release that he is looking forward to continuing his successful workin grelationship with the board, staff and members of the Pleasantdale community.

“I am excited to continue our good work to move the district forward,” Palzet said in the release. “ThePleasantdale community places a high value on their schools which is reflected in the partnerships we have formed and the success we have experienced. This contract is a wonderful vote of confidence on behalf of the Board and the community and I vow to continue towork my hardest to meet their high expectations."

Palzet’s most recent accomplishments during his tenure include improved home/school communication, development of a 1:1 technology program, creation and implementation of a facilities plan, initiation of a new strategic plan, and more, according to the release.
