High school sports roundup: Wins keep IC boys basketball in conference race

BENSENVILLE – Without a win against host Fenton on Feb. 7, IC Catholic’s boys basketball win against Aurora Central Catholic would have meant nothing.

The Knights topped the Bison 62-50 after defeating ACC 85-80 in overtime Feb. 3. The pair of wins keeps IC in the thick of the Metro Suburban Blue race with ACC.

Kevin Cheng poured in 18 points to lead IC, while Luke Ricobene tallied 12. Alex Meurer added 13 points and Amari Reed had 10 as the Knights improved to 16-7 overall and 7-2 in the MSB (tied with ACC for the lead) ahead of a Feb. 10 home game against Glenbard South (6-3 MSB).
