Albert D. Wangerin

AMBOY – Albert Donald Wangerin, 81, of Amboy, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Al was born May 20, 1935, in Chicago, the son of Martin and Mildred Blaschke-Wangerin.

Al was a great man full of integrity and strong will. He never gave up, and could be very firm in his conviction. He was giving in every way, and was a great friend to all he met. He was an active member of his community, and was involved with many organizations. He owned and operated Ideas In Print Shop in Warrenville for many years. Al was a 35-plus-year member of Warrenville Volunteer Fire Department, and he took great pride in his service there.

Surviving are his best friend and love of his life, Pat Cockrum; children, Marty and Carol Sue; and sister, Marga.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Marie.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon today, and the funeral at noon today, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 N. Galena Ave., Dixon. Cremation rights will be accorded after the services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Al’s honor to the Albert D. Wangerin Educational Trust Scholarship at Sauk Valley College Foundation, 173 State Route 2, Dixon, IL 61021.
