DeKALB – Mike Haber, owner of the newest Verizon Wireless retailer in DeKalb, said he opened the store to offer more personalized and community-minded service to local Verizon customers.

Cell Vision at 917 S. Annie Glidden Road is the second Verizon store in DeKalb and the eighth owned by Haber, of Naperville. The store opened in October.

Haber also owns stores in Roselle, Lisle, La Grange, Rochelle and Roscoe in Illinois and Racine and Milwaukee in Wisconsin.

DeKalb has a Verizon store at 2387 Sycamore Road along with authorized retailers at Best Buy, Walmart and Target.

Harber said he has been working to bring another Verizon store to DeKalb for nearly two years.

"I just believe that this community needs more than one store, especially with the large university as they have," he said. "I thought it was a great opportunity."

He said as a Verizon agent, he operates his stores independently and can provide indivdiualized service based on his customers' needs.

"We actually will go above and beyond corporate stores," Haber said. "We’ll work closer to each individual family. We’re actually going to call them, [offer] better deals for people that can’t afford it; we can bend more."

Haber said his store offers new lines, upgrades, insurances, accessories, tablets, Internet hotspots and various smart devices.

The store's hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Haber said his goal is for the store is to be a "community player" by getting involved with groups like the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and earning lifelong customers through good service.

"I believe at the end of the day, everybody sells phones, accessories, but the major difference is the actual people inside and how you act and react with every member and individual that comes through our store," he said. "Either they’re going to remember a great experience, or it’s just another store."
