ROCK FALLS- Richard Glenn Beyer, 75, of Rock Falls, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Sept. 24, 1941, in Savanna, the son of Glenn and Gladys (Troxell) Beyer. He married Shirley Harman in 1967. He worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire for 38.5 years as a pipefitter, and retired in 1998. He also owned and operated B & H Furniture and Twin City Yellow Cab for several years.
He was a longtime member of the Rock Falls Eagles Club, serving as president and trustee. He also was a member of the Oakland Park, Florida, Eagles Club.
He enjoyed spending his winters in Alabama and Florida. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and camping locally. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Teri (fiancé, Chuck Brady) Scott of Dixon, Lisa (Jim) Hogensen of Rock Falls, and Beth (Heath) Warner of Sterling; one son, Michael (LeeAnn) Beyer of Amboy; one sister, Carol (Lyle) Cartwright of Chadwick; nine grandchildren, Michelle Elmendorf, Catrina Wargo, Christopher Scott, Coty Scott, Milo Bryant, Creighton Pfeifer, Nathaniel Beyer, Bailey Warner, and Maddix Beyer; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Joseph Richard Hudson.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Eagles rites at 4:45 p.m. The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Elder Eileen Martin, officiating.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
