Carol Ann Kieffer

MOUNT CARMEL – Carol Ann Kieffer, 75, of Mount Carmel, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, with her loving family by her side.

She was born May 11, 1941, in Amboy, the daughter of Paul and Violette (Kuehne) McCaffrey. Carol married Donald E. Kieffer on Aug. 21, 1971, at St. Patrick Church in Dixon. They were married for 45 years.

Carol received a bachelor’s degree from Portland University in Portland, Oregon, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Carol was very active in the community. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, American Youth Hostel group, various community bridge groups, and the Mount Carmel Soccer Association.

Carol was very involved with her family and loved every moment she could spend with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband; children, Karen (Gus) Ikonomopoulos of Austin, Texas, Ann (David) James of Mount Carmel, Karl (Peggy) Kieffer of Hamburg, Germany, Brad Kieffer of New Orleans, and Dean Kieffer of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Levi and Bri James, Jason and Lexi Ikonomopoulos, Jordan Brooks, and Donovan, Connor, and Ryan Kieffer.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, Paul McCaffrey, and sister and brother-in-law, Jolene (Tom) Connley.

Visitation was from
4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with rosary at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 125 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mount Carmel, with burial following at St. Mary Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Mary Church or St. Mary’s School General Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed directly at 125 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
