Herbert Doering Jr.

PROPHETSTOWN – Herbert Doering Jr., 90, of Prophetstown, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Herbert was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Sterling, to Herbert and Mabel (Keefer) Doering Sr. He married Katherine Bernadine Moore on March 3, 1946, in Prophetstown. He farmed in the Prophetstown area and drove a school bus for Prophetstown School district for more than 50 years. Herbert was a member of First Congregational Church in Prophetstown.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine; two daughters, Ann (Larry) Drain of Cridersville, Ohio, and Penny (Terry) Boseneiler of Prophetstown; two sons, Roger (Terri) Doering of Morrison and Dennis (Peggy) Doering of Prophetstown; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David A. Doering.

There will be no visitation and the funeral will be private. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.
