DIXON – Joseph A. Padilla, 83, of Dixon, formerly of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
He was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Galva, the son of Miguel and Serafina (Gomez) Padilla, and had served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Pamela on April 1, 1973, in Sterling. Joseph had been employed at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling for 33 years, retiring from the furnace department. He served as an alderman for the city of Rock Falls in the 1970s. He enjoyed sky diving, boating, camping, and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela; sons, Joseph T. (Bree) Padilla of Sterling, Ted (Letitia) Padilla of Rock Falls, and Robert (Kristin) Kamman of Rockford; daughters, Christine (Dan Little) Padilla of Batesville, Indiana, Gabriel (David) Williams of Washington, and Beth (Troy) Fenner of Moline; one brother, Alfanso Padilla of Kewanee; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and the funeral at noon Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Military honors will follow.
