WESTERN SPRINGS – The inaugural Lyons Township boys gymnastics invite could not have gone much better for the host team.

A 10-0 surge to start the second half erased a 27-26 halftime deficit and sent the Friars on their way to a 60-46 win against North Lawndale in the Class 3A Fenwick sectional final March 10.

It was the first sectional title since 1998 for Fenwick (28-4), which faced St. Viator in a supersectional game March 14 for a berth in the state finals.

DJ Steward had 19 points to lead Fenwick. Jacob Keller added 17 points.
