BYRON – Michael James Gorman, 48, of Dixon, died Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Michael was born Aug. 7, 1968. Mike was a great father who loved spending time with his children. He also enjoyed his movies, the Dallas Cowboys, cooking out, and his Akita dogs. Mike was employed at Dixon Correctional Center for 29 years, as guard, and most recently as superintendent.
Mike is survived by his son, Brandon and daughter, Ashlee of Byron, who were the loves of his life. He also is survived by his mother, Elaine (Fane) Berkenpas; stepfather, Larry Berkenpas; sister, Cindy Gorman Engle; nephew, Nicholas Engle; niece, Grace Drew; aunt and uncle, Marilyn and Junior Schulte, aunt, Helen Hoyle and uncle, Father Kevin Fane. Mike also is survived by many cousins and special friend, Cindy Rowland.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Dean Gorman; grandmother, Florence Fane; and grandparents, Lester and Marian Gorman.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dixon Church of Brethren, 215 North Court. A luncheon will follow at Dixon Elks Lodge, 1279 Franklin Grove Road, Dixon.
His mother wasn't ready to see him go, but that sometimes is the way life goes.
