BYRON – Michael James Gorman, 48, died Thursday, March 16, 2017.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1968, in Dixon, the son of James Dean and Mary Elaine (Fane) Gorman. He married Jodi Bruce on Sept. 12, 1998. Mike began working with the Illinois Department of Corrections in 1987, and he currently was superintendent and tact team member at the center. Mike was a huge dog lover and avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He liked to work out and was a huge movie buff. His children remember him being a good cook and artist. Above all he loved his family and participating in the kids' activities.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi; children, Brandon and Ashlee; mother, Elaine (Larry) Berkenpas of Dixon; sister, Cindy Gorman of Dixon; father-in-law, Charles Lee Bruce; and dogs, Coco and Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and his mother-in-law, Judy Bruce.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Byron. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Snider of Cornerstone Family Church officiating. He will be buried at a later date with the ashes of his beloved dog, Butkus, in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are established for his children’s college fund.
