Face Time with Cara Cannon

Carol Stream resident Cara Cannon, 58, was working at The Cabinetry Boutique in St. Charles when she answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?
Cannon: Memphis, Tenn.; Houston; Midland, Mich.; Sydney, Australia; Carmel, Ind.; Crystal Lake; and San Diego. My dad worked for Dow Chemical, and we moved every two years.

Schory: Do you have any pets?
Cannon: A cat named Meeko, a husky named Ace and a beagle-doberman named Sophie.

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Cannon: Stephanie Powers

Schory: First job?
Cannon: Arnold Palmer golf range in Crystal Lake when I was 14.

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Cannon: I wanted to be a designer, and I am the showroom manager here and I design all the kitchens for John Hall Custom Homes and anybody who walks in.

Schory: Book or movie you would recommend?
Cannon: "Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories That Heal" by Rachel Naomi Remen and "Shawshank Redemption"

Schory: Favorite charity?
Cannon: American Cancer Society

Schory: Favorite ice cream flavor?
Cannon: Salted caramel from Kimmer's Ice Cream in St. Charles.

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?
Cannon: Shakou in St. Charles

Schory: What is an interesting factoid about yourself?
Cannon: I have been to South Africa, Nairobi, Tahiti, Fiji, Bermuda and to Italy three times. For the last 10 years, I've been going to the Indianapolis 500. Once you live in Indiana, you get the Indianapolis 500 fever.
