On March 19, the Mayfield Congregational Church Sunday School welcomed four visitors and learned more about Kenya and the school that the church supports. Children and adults gathered with friends Teresa Wasonga, Andrew Otieno and Revela Odhuno from the Jane Adeny Memorial School (JAMS) in Kenya and Joyce Masso, a Swahili teacher from Tanzania. There were stories of the school to hear, pictures to see, and words in Swahili to learn. In April, the children will create a scrapbook with information about their lives in DeKalb County and with greetings to the students at JAMS. School founder/directors Wasonga and Otieno will take the scrapbook with them to JAMS this summer.
