Barry K. Fenton

STERLING – Barry K. Fenton, 69, of Sterling, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Barry was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Sterling, the son of Dwight and Janet (Purdue) Fenton. He graduated from Rock Falls High School, and recently was inducted into the Rock Falls High School Hall of Fame for football.  At 18 years old, Barry joined the Army in 1966, and served in Vietnam until his discharge in 1969. Barry was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, spending time with his family, and his two dogs, Princess and Buddy.

Survivors include three daughters, Joley Brown of Springfield, Stacey Hunsberger of Dixon, and Christina (Angel) Cruz of Geneva, Ohio; two sons, Jeff (Michele) Fenton and Blaine Fenton, both of Rock Falls; one brother, Mike (Sandy) Fenton; one sister, Cherri Fenton of Sterling; one uncle, Kent Fenton of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, Blake, Rylie, Leyla, Aaron, Kayla, Mariah, Seth, Audrey, Jessica, Madilyn, Brandon, and Kaydence; five great-grandchildren, Ayden, Eleiana, Evelyn, Emberly, and Myla; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Debbie Fenton.

Graveside service with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls. A celebration of life will follow at Tin Roof Tavern, 13464 Galt Road, Sterling. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established.
