FFA members advance to state

GALVA – The West Carroll FFA Junior High and Varsity Parliamentary Procedure teams each will advance to the state Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Events after placing first in their respective divisions at the District I FFA Parliamentary Procedure CDE April 12 at Black Hawk East College.

Junior high team members are Lakin Getz, president; Olivia Charles, secretary; and floor members Sophia Guenzler, Gabe Themas-Smith, Julian Ortiz, Jacob McLuckie, and Tom Falk.

The team was unopposed at the contest and will now advance to the state “Code of Conduct” CDE at the June State FFA Convention.

The varsity team included Daniel Hartman, president; Emma Aljets, secretary; and floor members Shae Williams, Jacob Casey, Josi Anderson, and Luke Jones. Individually, floor members Jones, Aljets, and Williams placed first, second, and seventh.

Hartman won third as chairman, and Aljets fourth assecretary.

West Carroll FFA also had a Novice Parliamentary Procedure team which placed sixth at the CDE.

They are Ty Aljets, chairman; Celia Hartman, secretary; and floor members Bradley Tuftee, Abbi Burns, Adam Rath, and Riley Getz. Individually Hartman placed fourth as secretary and Aljets fourth as chairman.

A Parliamentary Procedure Contest consists of members completing a 25-question multiple choice test, doing a 10-minute demonstration using parliamentary motions, and answering questions about the motions used in the demonstration.
