DIXON – Ronald Willey, 63, of Dixon, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at his home. He was a vice president of the family business, Eller & Willey Block Co. Most recently, he enjoyed driving a semi truck for Ryder / Do It Best.
Ron was born Oct. 26, 1953, the son of M. Charles and Mary (Wright) Willey. He married his best friend, Laura Sitter, on Sept. 21, 1973, in Dixon. Over the years, Ron enjoyed watching and coaching his kids’ sports activities, spending time with his grandkids, going out to breakfast with his friends, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs with Laura. His cabin along the river was a place where he loved to spend time with his family and his loyal friend, Denny Bellows.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Willey of Dixon; four children, Beth (John) Thing of Rochester, Sarah (Dave) Johnson of Aurora, and Jon (Brandi) Willey and Rob Willey, both of Dixon; his mother, Mary Willey, and three siblings, Kenneth (Sarah) Willey, Carol (Gary) Pierce, and Janet (Ron) West, all of Dixon; seven grandchildren, Addy, Cooper, and Owen Willey, Carter and Lexie Johnson; Paige and Megan Thing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Steven Willey in infancy and Donald Willey.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ron West, assistant pastor at Bethel Evangelical Congregation Church in Dixon, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
