Betty J. Henson

STERLING – Betty J. Henson, 79, of Sterling, died Friday morning, May 26, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Sterling, to Ernest and Eva (Reeser) Finders. She married Charles Henson on Oct. 15, 1955, in Rock Falls.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and loved Conway Twitty and Elvis. Betty enjoyed cooking, and loved flowers. She adored her family,

especially her best canine companion, Cooper.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Charles; two daughters, Rebecca (Joseph) Duis of Sterling and Brenda (Mike Bredberg) Henson of Rock Falls; two sons, Bruce (Gail) Henson of Sterling and Charles (Rachel Dorner) Henson of Rock Falls; a sister, Linda Rogalski of Rockford; grandchildren, Tara (Adam) Cate, Trisha (Mike) Petersen, Natalie (Jake) Amesquita, Sean (fiancée, Abby) Crossley, Brady (fiancée, Hollie) Henson, Brianna Henson, Brodie Henson, Drew Henson, and Casen Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Gwen, Cash, Athena, Wyatt, Quin, and Kenna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara; a son Brad; and two sisters. Virginia Parks and Shirley McCord.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Pastor Brian Vickers officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
