Business Briefs: Samra promoted at Heartland Bank and Trust

Heartland Bank and Trust Company recently announces that Hasan Samra has been promoted to retail manager in Plainfield. Samra works at the bank’s 14901 S. Route 59 office.

Samra has more than 12 years banking experience, and most recently served as retail lead. During his banking career, he has also held positions as teller supervisor, retail banker, and branch manager. He lives in Palos Hills with his wife and their two children.

Mathnasium opens in Shorewood

Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated alongside Khalid Ganem and Saja Elshareif, the new directors of Mathnasium of Shorewood, as it opened in March 2017 following the retirement of previous owner, John Van Horn. The business was previously located in Plainfield.

Mathnasium is a franchise that offers after-school math programs for children who are struggling and those who are gifted in math. After taking an assessment that measures mastery of grade level, students receive a customized learning plan.

Caruso joins Manhattan Medical staff

Kelly Caruso, certified physician assistant, has joined Dr. Vlad Badescu, internal medicine physician on staff at Silver Cross Hospital. She will see patients at Manhattan Medical located in Foxford Center Shopping Plaza at 540 W. North St. in Manhattan and in the Silver Cross Professional Building at 15505 127th St. in Lemont.

Caruso received her Master of Medical Science degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Northern Illinois University.

Meet Caruso, Badescu and Sara Smalley, PA-C, along with the rest of the Manhattan Medical staff, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at an open house at 540 North St. in Manhattan. The first 100 guests will receive a grab-n-go dinner from Subway and a travel first-aid kit. Participants can also register to win a $100 Berkot’s gift card and tickets to the NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
