Hometown: Princeton. Family: My husband, Randy; a son, Casey of Indianapolis; and my parents, Bob and Marilyn Haslam.
Occupation: I’ve had the opportunity to experience many careers in my life. I was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker; I owned a bed and breakfast; and invested in rental properties. After moving to Princeton in 2015, I started working part time at juniper & mae on North Main Street. I absolutely love it! This small position allows me to welcome shoppers to the area and welcome them to Princeton. It feels like a retail/tourism position many days.
What was your first job? Like most my age, it was detasseling for Pioneer.
What is your favorite movie? “Return To Me.” It’s a love story, but it was written about an organ donation which I’m very passionate about.
What is your favorite book? I can’t say I have a favorite book, but I have a favorite author, Anne Rule. I studied law enforcement and have a particular interest in homicide. I know, creepy.
What is the best concert you’ve been to? I have enjoyed them all, but I’d have to narrow it down to Loverboy in 1984 and the time I saw the Rolling Stones twice about 10 years ago.
If you met a genie who granted you one wish, what would you wish for? I would wish for world peace and greed to end.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? I think raising our son. It takes an incredible amount of love and patience.
Where do you most want to travel, but have never been? I think my next trip will be to France or South Africa in 2018.
What is one thing you're truly passionate about? Giving and never expecting a return. I believe as my mother taught me. God asks of you to do good for others, and the best intentions are the ones one knows about or that you can never be repaid. Let the Lord give the glory.
What is your favorite area restaurant, and what do you like to order there? I can't play favoritism on this one; I like something different on each menu.
What is something you like about your hometown? I love the passion that the community feels toward bringing the town forward and preserving the integrity of the past with our beautiful Main Street.
Is there anything you would change about your hometown? Yes, that more residents would get involved and take ownership of doing something a little extra for the community. I don't like to see people complain but take no part in working toward a good solution.
