Geneva's Playhouse 38 musical comedy explores pitfalls of turning 13

GENEVA – Playhouse 38 will offer performances of "13 – The Musical," a coming-of-age comedy about turning 13, the Geneva Park District announced in a news release.

Evan Goldman is about to turn 13, and he can’t wait, as his life seems full of possibilities – that is, until his parents get divorced, and he is forced to move with his mom from big-city New York to podunk Appleton, Ind., the release stated

If Evan can’t get the coolest kids to come to his bar mitzvah, how is he going to survive the school year – let alone the rest of his life – is the theme of the play, the release stated.

Evan navigates the world of cool kids, nerds, jocks and cheerleaders, as well as first kisses and heartbreak, as he comes to understand “What It Means to be a Friend,” the release stated.

The play, which is directed by Lisa Pivaronas, features Larissa Catalano and Nathan Pique of Campton Hills; Lucy Smith, Audrey Webb, Kaia Edel, Connor McCue, Adam Dalhberg and Brady Owen, all of Geneva; Tera Carlson of Bartlett; Krystal Perez of Montgomery; Barb Rucci of Naperville; and Jim Knapp of Warrenville, the release stated.
