Never thought it could happen to me

JOLIET – For years I've teased my daughter Rebekah Baran about her love for Asian music, movies, dramas, variety shows, and animes. Now I did enjoy the film "Memories of a Geisha," mostly because I had read the book and liked it. And I'd watched a few Super Junior music videos at Rebekah's insistence because the music was good. And when we homeschooled, I found her term paper on the history of kimonos interesting. But then a year and a half ago. Rebekah asked me to watch a Japanese anime ("Black Butler") with her. Even with its Gothic 19th century theme and English dubbed, I initially balked. To my surprise, I liked it. A lot. So then Rebekah suggested a Korean drama spoof ("Dramaworld"). The 10 episodes were short (10 minutes) and in English. To my surprise, I liked it. A lot. Thus I embarked on an adventure into the popular entertainment of another continent. I'm not alone.
