JOLIET – A Rockdale teenager tried to use a stun gun on a 16-year-old girl at a Joliet park, police said.

On Tuesday afternoon, Maria L. Beach, 18, of the 600 block of Moen Avenue, allegedly pulled out a stun gun, turned it on and attempted to shock the girl but never made contact, said Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory.

Beach, along with Alexis S. Gross, 19, of Romeoville, and Anthony Edwards, 20, of Crest Hill, were allegedly fighting with two 16-year-old girls and an 11-year-old girl at a park near Washington Street, Gregory said.

The incident was reported to the police and when officers arrived, they reportedly found Beach, Gross and Edwards sitting in a car near the park. Gregory said Beach relinquished her stun gun to police and after officers interviewwed everyone involved, they determined a fight had occurred.

Beach was charged with mob action, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault. She was booked into Will County jail Tuesday evening. Beach was given a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and she was released from custody Wednesday afternoon.

Gross and Edwards were charged with mob action and released on their own recognizance.
