Putnam County boys golf team won the Putnam County Scramble and three other matches this week.
The team placed first in the scramble at Edgewood Golf Club with a score of 56. Other teams’ scores were Henry (60), Seneca (61), Fieldcrest (62), Streator Woodland (66), Roanoke-Benson (68), Midland (69), Ottawa Marquette (69), Somonauk (73), and Eureka (73).
Putnam County (154) defeated Ottawa Marquette (192) and Streator Woodland (194) on Aug. 23. PC golfers’ scores were Ben Cyr as medalist with 33, Ian Roach 38, Caleb Dzierzynski 40, and Auston Pflibsen (43). Other scores were Luke Griffith 56 and Tony Labanowski 70.
Putnam County (168) defeated St. Bede (176), Henry (198) and Ottawa Marquette (239) on Aug. 22. PC golfers’ scores were Ian Roach (41), Ben Cyr (42), Caleb Dzierzynski (42), and Austin Pflibsen (43). Other scores were Luke Griffith (61) and Tony Labanowski (75).
Putnam County won the nine-team Midland Invitational on Aug. 21 with a team score of 303. Caleb Dzierzynski was named the individual medalist with a 70. He beat Brimfield’s Brady Kreiter by making a birdie on the first playoff hole. Ian Roach had a 77. Ben Cyr a 78, as did Auston Pflibsen.
