LITTLE YORK — LaJune Ranney Ricketts, 81, of Little York, Ill., passed away at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Seaton, the daughter of Everett and Bertha (Ranney) Fredrickson. LaJune was raised and educated in Little York and graduated from Little York High School in 1953.
LaJune married Dwight L. Ricketts at the Belmont Methodist Church on Dec. 6, 1953; he preceded her in death on April 19, 1985.
LaJune was a homemaker and later a bank teller at Midwest Bank for 26 years, retiring in 2012. She was a member of the Belmont Methodist Church, Little York Farmerttes and served as a trustee for the Bald Bluff Township for 32 years. LaJune loved traveling, cooking, dancing, puzzles, crocheting and embroidering. She also enjoyed going to concerts and musicals, and all of her grandchildren’s activities. LaJune was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving LaJune are her children, Denise (Michael) Williams of Sheffield, Duane (Cindy) Ricketts of Galesburg, Darryl (Carol) Ricketts of Roseville, Marlon (Teresa) Ricketts of Rochelle, Michelle (Greg) Raes of Little York and Dudley (Julie) Ricketts of Monmouth; her grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) Williams, Nicole Williams, Zachary Ricketts, Kelly (Mark) Sullivan, Ryan Ricketts, Matthew Ricketts, Josh (Stacy) Gibb, Matt Gibb, Jacob Ricketts, Adam Ricketts, Gregory Ricketts, Andrew Raes, Ashley Raes, Dexter Ricketts, Blake Ricketts and Tyler Ricketts; her great-grandchildren, Payton Williams, Esther Gibb, Miles Gibb, Maxwell Gibb, and Harrison Gibb; two brothers, Paul (Ruth) Fredrickson of Galesburg and Donald (Judy) Fredrickson of Seaton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. Interment will be in the Belmont Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.
