La Grange Park police announce promotions

LA GRANGE PARK – The La Grange Park Police Department recently announced the promotions of two long-time employees.

Deputy Chief John Strezo, who has been employed with the village of La Grange Park since September 1999, has held the positions of patrol officer, officer in charge, sergeant and commander before now being named deputy chief, according to the Police Department.

Strezo was the La Grange Park/Brookfield Lions Club Officer of the Year in 2003. He also was the camp coordinator for the department's first-ever Adopt-A-Cop Summer Camp for grades 3 through 5 from about 2009 through 2012, officials said.

Strezo will continue to be an Adopt-A-Cop officer at Brook Park School in La Grange Park. He is the father of two boys, Zach and Ryan.

Operations Cmdr. Tim Contois has been with the village since March 2002. He has held the positions of patrol officer, detective, officer in charge and sergeant before becoming operations commander, officials said.

Contois was the La Grange Park/Brookfield Lions Club Officer of the Year in 2008. He also is an Adopt-A-Cop officer at Brook Park School, and he will maintain this role. The La Grange Park resident has a daughter, Gabby, and wife, Amy.
