The Art Box shows works by Chicago artist Dale Osterle

“Broadway to The Art Box,” an exhibition of original hand-painted, limited edition intaglio prints by Dale Osterle, a prominent Chicago artist and longtime resident of DeKalb, will be on display at from Sept. 5 to Oct. 3 at The Art Box, 308 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb.

The reception for the artist is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10.

Most of the work displayed in this exhibition is from the September 2016 one-person show at the National Association of Women Artists Gallery Inc. on West 39th Street in New York City. There also will be never-seen-before woodblock prints.

Dale Osterle grew up in New England with an affinity for winding paths, trees and woods. These landscapes are romantic and expressionistic portrayals of places she has traveled and lived in. Her early works are typically viscosity prints. After visiting Provence, France, in late 1980, she started using strong, simple lines and sweeps of color in long and vertical slices, and the etchings are embellished with fine layers of oil paint. Her series of works are limited editions and unique.

Osterle received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design and later became interested in printmaking, studying with David Dreisbach at Northern Illinois University.

Numerous galleries and art consultants have represented her nationally. Corporate collections include IBM, McDonald’s, Reader’s Digest and Borg Warner; she has had the honor of showing at the Kennedy Center, The National Museum for Women in the Arts, and the United Nations.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays and Wednesdays.
