MARENGO – Route 20 was temporarily closed Thursday between County Line and Thorne roads, west of Marengo, because of a five-vehicle crash, a police official said.
The crash occurred about 2:45 p.m. Thursday on Route 20, just west of Burma Road, McHenry County Sheriff’s Sgt. Aimee Knop said.
The driver, Juan Ochoa, 28, of Chicago, rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, causing a chain-reaction crash to occur with the four vehicles in front of him, Knop said. Traffic in front of Ochoa had slowed down because of construction.
The road reopened about 4 p.m., according to a Nixle alert from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Knop said some of the five drivers and two passengers had minor injuries, but none were taken to the hospital, and all were cleared at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
Marengo fire personnel could not be reached for information.
