Morris Police Department introduces new officer

MORRIS — The Morris Police Department introduced its newest member, Officer Justin Martin, via a post on its Facebook page.

Martin started the job Sept. 9.

According to the post, Officer Martin spent the past week getting to know the department, staff and community. He will begin a 14-week Basic Academy at the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) at the College of DuPage.

"We are glad to have him on our team and wish him the best of luck during the academy!" the post read.

Martin is originally from Olgesby and attended Ottawa Township High School District 140. He then went on to graduate from Illinois State University with a degree in Criminal Justice Studies in May after interning with the Ottawa Police Department.
