John W. VenHuizen

MORRISON – John W. VenHuizen, 76, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. John owned and operated VenHuizen Concrete Construction.

John was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Morrison, to Peter and Cornelia (Hamstra) VenHuizen. He married Mary Jane Tichler in May 1961, in Morrison. She died Dec. 13, 2013. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Gabe) Gomez and one son, Bob (Nadine) VenHuizen, both of Morrison; and two grandchildren.

John also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jane Hudson and Grace Dykstra; and one brother, Fred VenHuizen.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and the funeral at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with Ken Renkes officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the American Diabetes Association.
