Frances D. Knapp

MOUNT CARROLL – Frances D. Knapp, 85, of Mount Carroll, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, with her daughter, Sandy, at her side.

Frances was born July 28, 1932, in Woodland Township, Illinois, the daughter of Amil and Hazel (Thompson) Bork. She attended Pauls Grove Country School, Spring Grove Country School, and Mount Carroll High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. On May 1, 1955, Frances married Raymond Knapp. They celebrated 56 years of marriage until Raymond’s death in 2011.

Frances worked as a secretary for the Savanna Army Depot and the Mount Carroll Farm Bureau. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, going on walks, listening to the radio, and collecting angels, owls, and bald eagle figurines. Most of all, Frances’ life revolved around her family, and she cherished spending time with them.

Frances will be dearly missed by a daughter, Sandy (Keith Brinkmeier) Allen of Pearl City; grandchildren, Diane (Garry Mapes) Randecker of Stockton, Marty Knapp of Savanna, and Amber (Ashley) Knapp and Ashley Knapp, both of Casper, Wyoming;and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany, Alyssa, and Jon Randecker, and Tessa, Avery, and Rose Marie Knapp.

Frances also was preceded in death by one son, Marty; one grandson, Matthew; three sisters; seven brothers, and her parents.

The funeral was Thursday at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll.
