The Chronicle's sports reporter, Jacob Bartelson, caught up with the senior quarterback on last week's performance and looking ahead to undefeated Batavia. Below is an edited transcript.
Bartelson: Looking back on your six-touchdown performance last week, is that an offensive pace you expect moving forward for you and your teammates?
Hohensee: Yes, our offensive did a great job executing on Friday and that's how we plan to play every Friday. Our offensive coordinator Brian Flynn does a great job in preparing us to succeed. Our O-line did a great job protecting and making running lanes and our wide receivers took advantage of the one-on-one matchups.
Bartelson: Batavia is undefeated, and their defense doesn’t allow much room for error. How can the North offense exploit them?
Hohensee: Batavia is a good team and has always had a strong program. We know their defense has playmakers but we do too. Offensively we have a strong O-line and are deep in our skill positions. I'm very confident in our team that we can get the job done it's all about how we execute.
Bartelson: How do you expect to get running back Lucas Segobiano the ball knowing they might key in on him in game planning?
Hohensee: Luke is a great athlete so he can play both at running back and at receiver and be successful like we have seen. It's hard to game plan for him because he's such a dynamic player. But we are skilled at every position and no matter who gets the ball in our offense we believe they can get the job done.
Bartelson: What is your fondest memory or moment as a part of the North program?
Hohensee: My favorite memory has to be this year when we beat our rivals St. Charles East. It was a great team win for us coming from behind and winning in OT...But, I wouldn't be surprised if the favorite memory changes come Thanksgiving weekend. We have full belief as a team that we can make a run deep into the playoffs this year, and shock some people.
