Police: Joliet man attacks security guard at University of St. Francis

JOLIET – A Joliet man allegedly pummeled a security guard at the University of St. Francis, police said.

On Monday afternoon, John L. Majewski Jr., 27, of the 400 block of Plainfield Road, was told by a 59-year-old security guard at the university to leave the premises, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said.

The security guard had previously had warned Majewski not to be on campus, Gregory said.

Rather than leave, Majewski allegedly became upset and knocked the security guard to the ground. Gregory said that Majewski then allegedly struck the security guard several times.

The security guard reportedly suffered laceration wounds to the nose and ears, and his body was sore.

After police officers responded to the incident, the security guard was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Majewski was not found at the scene and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police then went to his residence on Plainfield Road on Wednesday and placed him under arrest.

Majewski was booked into the Will County jail on a charge of aggravated battery.

Majewski’s bond was set at $50,000, and he remained in custody at the county jail Thursday evening.
