Michael Boland

Height: 6-foot-1

Weight: 170

Year: Junior

Huntley’s junior wide receiver caught five passes for 122 yards and a touchdown in Huntley’s 45-7 win over McHenry in Week 9. Readers of the Northwest Herald voted Boland the football player of the week for his performance.

Do you remember what you ate before the game? Every week we have a team dinner. It usually consists of pasta and lasagna.

Do you have any pregame rituals? No, I just go out there and play.

Is there anyone you style your game after? No, not really. My favorite player is wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

Do you play any other sports? Baseball.

Who's your biggest hero? I'd say my biggest hero is my dad (Clayton Boland). He's a hard-working person and he works five days a week and I never hear him complain.

Do you have any nicknames? Really just Boland, my last name.

Who's the funniest guy on your team? There's Joey Wilson, an offensive tackle. Every week we do skits just for fun and we do something funny to make the whole team laugh. Also (junior wide receiver) Ronel Noll, he's just a funny guy and he has fun on the field and messes around with everybody.

Do you have any hobbies outside of sports? Mostly hanging out with friends.

What's something people might not know about you? My whole family is from Canada. Pretty much most of my family lives in Canada. We have some family here in McHenry County.

Where at in Canada? Newfoundland. St. John's.

What are three things you couldn't live without? No. 1 is definitely my phone. No. 2, probably my dog, Molly. And, I can't think of a third one.

What kind of dog is Molly? She's a Shih Tzu Bichon.

Who would play you in a movie? Maybe Seth Rogen. I don't know. He's funny.

If you're playing pro baseball, what's your walk-up song? Bob Marley, "Three Little Birds."

What's your favorite thing to do on a day off? Either go hang out with my friends or stay in and get some sleep.
