Edward Schorn

LOSTANT — Edward J. Schorn, 78 of (Mt. Palatine) rural Lostant passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 6, 1938, at home in rural Lostant to Joseph and Emma (Dose) Schorn. He married Suzann Chamberlin on Nov. 12, 1960, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Leonore.

He attended Lostant Schools and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Mt. Palatine until it closed and then became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville.

He farmed his entire life until he retired in 2003. He was a Magnolia Township trustee for many years. He was also a trustee for St. Mary’s Cemetery in rural Lostant.

He was a Putnam County Panthers sports fan and loved his St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife, Suzann Schorn; his children, Brenda Wulzen of rural Lostant, Cathy (Mike) Moriarty of Granville, Christy (Jim) Galetti of Standard, Mike (Aida) Schorn of Millstadt and Dale (Carey) Schorn of rural Granville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brad (Andrea) Moriarty, Dan (Katie) Moriarty, Nick Moriarty, Dylan Wulzen, Tim, Justin and Matthew Galetti, Kyle Sellett, Trey, Jace and Brea Schorn, and Eddie Schorn; and six great-grandchildren, Manuela, Tobias, Andres, Antonia Botero-Moriarty, Camden and Caleb Moriarty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Elmer; and two brothers, Donald and Robert (died at birth).

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville with Father Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville, will a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

His grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
