Doris J. Wade

STERLING – Doris J. Wade, 92, of Sterling, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Morningside of Sterling.

She was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Sterling, the daughter of Garrett and Caroline (Averill) Abel. Doris married Harold C. Wade on April 9, 1947, in Sterling. He died Dec. 22, 2002. Doris worked for 5 years, from 1943 to 1948, at the former Central National Bank in Sterling. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn (Cary) Spencer of Livermore, California; her son, Marty (Olivia) Wade of Sterling; three grandchildren, Scott Spencer of Livermore, Alicia (Dennis) Day of Sterling, and Philip (Kristi) Jones of Ellettsville, Indiana; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Day, Sarah Day, Caden Jones, and Cora Jones.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and her half sister, Nadine Spiegel.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, and the memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling, with the Rev. Tanya J. Tyler officiating. Private burial will be at later date at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
