FULTON – The new owner of the Fulton Meat Market has had a steak in its success for quite awhile.

Longtime employee Greg Anderson bought the Fulton Meat Market from Tom Maus, who retired after 34 years. Before taking over, Anderson, 52, worked there for 16 years, and he’s been in the meat business since 1989.

Anderson, of Clinton, Iowa, bought the business from Maus, 72, of Albany in September. Maus had been talking about a change of hands for the past year or so.

The shop offers meat – fresh cut and smoked – cheese and a host of other food products. It also does catering.

For now Anderson doesn’t plan on changing too much at the business, which Maus bought in 1983 and that had been around before then, as the Fulton Locker Service.

“We want to keep what they’ve been doing,” he said.

He might add new products, but “we don’t want to fix anything that isn’t broke.”

Fulton Meat Market, 211 11th Ave., is open from 8 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. Find it on Facebook, go to fultonmeatmarket.business.site, or call 815-589-3232 for more information.
