JOLIET – A Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly punched his girlfriend for wanting to leave him, police said.
Andres Ochoa, 21, and his 22-year-old girlfriend got into an argument Monday evening because she reportedly was going to leave him and take their children out of state after finding out Ochoa had a new girlfriend, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said.
Ochoa’s girlfriend and three other family members said that Ochoa allegedly punched his girlfriend with a closed fist to her right check, causing pain and a scratch, Gregory said.
Ochoa then left their home in the 900 block of Waverly Place, police said. When he returned, officers were there waiting for him and they place him under arrest.
Ochoa was charged with domestic battery and booked into the Will County jail.
Ochoa appeared in court Tuesday and his bond was set at $3,000. Ochoa remained in custody at the county jail Tuesday evening.
