Antioch Subway gets new look

ANTIOCH – After nearly 30 years, the Subway restaurant at 1120 Main St. has a new look.

To celebrate, the eatery hosted a grand opening weekend that began with a ceremonial Giant Sandwich-Cutting on Nov. 10, according to a news release.

Antioch Mayor Lawrence Hanson cut the 9-foot sandwich with Antioch High School Principal Eric Hamilton and Community High School District 117 Superintendent Jim McKay by his side.

After being cut down the middle, the sandwich halves were delivered to Antioch’s first responders. Half was given to the Antioch Police Department while the other half went to the Antioch Fire Department.

The grand opening served as the unveiling of new innovative additions at the location, the most prominent of which is the NEXTEP drive-thru that is entirely touchscreen and includes a Spanish translation setting.

The changes are all part of Subway’s Fresh Forward design, aimed at offering guests an enhanced experience.

Subway continues to make speed a priority, with the introduction of modern features such as a self-ordering kiosk and an additional sandwich-making station.

Other additions to this Antioch location include a digital menu, TVs, a pre-order pickup area, Wi-Fi, new ingredients, and charging ports.

The Antioch Subway is co-owned by brothers Bob and Ron Ocwieja. Together with general manager John Rinaldi, they have operated the restaurant for nearly 30 years.

The Antioch Subway hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Breakfast is available all day and guests can pre-order their meals using the Subway App. The app can be downloaded via Google Play and Apple Store.
