Ethel M. Jacobs

STERLING – Ethel M. Jacobs, 89, of Morningside of Sterling, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Morningside.

Ethel was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Cordova Township, to Maurice and Madge (Hoobler) Sullivan. She was a graduate of Fulton High School, and received her associate degree in education at Clinton Community College in Clinton, Iowa. Ethel married Kenneth Jacobs on Feb. 1, 1950, in Fulton. He died May 25, 1974. She was a teacher and once married, she helped on the farm. She later worked at General Electric Co. in Morrison as a time clerk, retiring in 1992. Ethel was a member of the GEM Club of GE.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia A. Cronister of Morrison; one son, Douglas (Amanda) Jacobs of Sterling; six grandchildren, Enrica and Endrea Jacobs, and Kaitlin, Tyler, Justin, and Kenneth Cronister; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor (Jacob) Medema of Fulton.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Banse.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, and the funeral at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, with the Rev. Roger Carlson officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

A memorial has been established by the family.
