MORRISON – LaVerne Rose, 86, formerly of Chadwick, died Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Windsor Manor in Morrison.
LaVerne was born June 2, 1931, in Fenton to Herman P. and Josephine M. (Buikema) Rose.
He graduated from Erie High School, served in the Army during the Korean War, and married Jennie C. Hook on Oct. 18, 1955 in Erie. She died Dec. 4, 2009. He retired from the Morrison School District after 23 years, and he was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison.
Survivors include his son, Rodney (Geraldine) Rose of Chadwick; his sister, Jean Ann Blair of Erie; and a granddaughter.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Rose.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. His funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Rich Davis, pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association have been established.
