POLO – Lloyd K. Miller, 79, of Polo, formerly of Lanark, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Polo Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Lloyd was born May 17, 1938, to Theodore and Oma (Hawbecker) Miller, and he graduated in 1956 from Lanark High School. Lloyd married Carolyn Erbsen on May 5, 1957. She passed away on May 30, 2000. On Dec. 1, 2001, he married Dianne Stern of Polo.
He farmed near Lanark for many years, and then later worked for WW Builders. He was a member of Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren, and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, and attending his grandchildren’s special events.
Survivors include his wife Dianne of Polo, and brother Ivon Miller of Chadwick. Children are Lynn (Kris) Miller of Prophetstown, Sharon (Brian) Witt, Karen (Justin Merchant) Miller, and Lyle (Codee) Miller, all of Lanark, Carolyn Ohlsen of Rock Island, Dawn (Jeff) Waite of Sterling, and Gene (Kristen) Stern of Elburn. Grandchildren are Kim (Josh) Bird, Kari (Reid) Spivey, Karl Miller, Stephanie (Brenden) Schultz, Justin (Augusta) Witt, Austin and Alyssa Miller, Hannah Ohlsen, Jonathon, Joshua, and Rebecca Waite, Parker and Drew Malone,and Liam Stern. Great-grandchildren are Emma, Kyle, Isabel, Olivia, and Jasmine Bird, Jocelyn Ruppert, and Hadley Witt.
Lloyd also was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Miller; and grandson, Kyle Lynn Miller.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lanark First Brethren Church, on the corner of Rochester and Locust streets. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Rodney Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Lanark Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name.
