Julia McCullough

GALESBURG — Julia L. McCullough, 77, of Galesburg, formerly of Princeton, passed away from cancer at 2:22 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at St Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg with her children at her bedside.

She was born June 23, 1940, to Marion and Rena (Cross) Henkins in Lacon.

Julia graduated from Princeton High School in 1958 and married Elmer J. McCullough June 3, 1959. They later divorced, but not before having ten (10!) children.

Julia is survived by nine children, Diana McCullough, Denise (Dennis) Morris and Mary McCullough, all of Princeton, Susan (Bob) McCauley of Geneva, Bill (Sheila) McCullough of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Beverly Judge (Mark) Havel of Rolling Meadows, Ryan (Michele) McCullough of Madison, S.D., Cory (LeAnn) McCullough of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Matthew McCullough of Collinsville; 11 grandchildren, Meriah Cruz, Colby Cruz and Dylan Morris of Princeton, Andrea (Jeff) Gertsen of Elburn, Courtney (Mike) Denk of Houston, Texas, Brandon (Niki) McCullough of Des Moines, Iowa, Tasha (Steve) Rostas of Palm Bay, Fla., Ryan Fowler of Rolling Meadows, Christian McCullough of Madison, S.D., and Brittany, Austin Molly McCullough of Ridgecrest, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jordon, Jaxson, Harper, Lilly and Liam; and three siblings, DeEtta (Harold) Ireland of Sparland, Jackie (Don) Krager of Amboy and Jo Beth (Jack) Walstrom of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Maggie; a son, Alan; two sisters, Peggy and Steffanie; and two brothers, Marvin and Bob.

Julia was very active in her children’s lives as a homemaker, den leader and Sunday school teacher. Her children are eternally grateful that she taught them early on that the most important thing in life is knowing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. A Celebration of Life service celebrating Julia’s life will be conducted by Pastor James Nylander at 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to North Central Behavior Health Systems.
