AMBOY – Anthony C. “Tony” Koch, 57, of Amboy, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Oct. 7, 1960, in Amboy, the son of Charles and Karlene (Blake) Koch. He was the animal control officer for the City of Amboy for more than 25 years. He also had worked various positions for Amboy CUSD 272, as well as at Dixon State School.
Tony was a longtime member of Amboy ESDA, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, and Amboy Jaycees. During the Christmas holidays, he also had played Santa Claus.
Survivors include four sisters, Kristine (Greg) Welker of Polo, Joan (Terry) Brunt of Amboy, Angela Koch of Cowgill, Missouri, and Laura (Mark) Hicks of Amboy; one brother, Daniel (Laurie) Koch of Amboy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many special friends who helped him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-nieces, Lila and Emery; and several aunts and uncles.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends with food and fellowship will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6 p.m. Wednesday celebration of life at Amboy Community Building, with Pastor Brian McWethy officiating. It will include a time of remembrance for anyone wishing to share memories. Private burial of cremains will be at a later date at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy is handling arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Amboy Fire Department.
